Simple Skin Care
With expensive skin treatments like Botox and plastic surgery, many people are under the impression that the fountain of youth isn’t cheap.
Fortunately, the reality is that there are many things you can do to improve the condition of your skin without breaking the bank. One of the things that professionals in the skin care industry know is that different skin types respond to different anti-aging treatments. By simply treating your skin for its individual needs, you can enhance the look and feel of your skin.
We put together some of the simplest secrets for all different types of skin so that you can turn back the hands of time from your own home!
Oily Skin
Oily skin is often given a bad reputation for causing acne which results in scars that can last forever. However, oily skin can be very easy to manage if you just know how to use some of the ingredients that are probably already in your pantry.
One remedy that will help absorb excess oil is by mixing 1/2 cup cooked oatmeal, 1 egg white, 1 Tablespoon lemon juice, and 1/2 cup mashed apple into a smooth paste. Apply generously to all oily areas of the face and leave on for 15 minutes. This will absorb excess oil without drying out your skin.
Moisture is one of the most efficient ways to smooth old wrinkles and prevent new ones from forming. If you already have oily skin you are less prone to wrinkles, but don’t zap your skin of its natural oils while trying to control the production of oil.
Dry Skin
Although dry skin doesn’t cause you as much grief when you’re a teenager, skin that’s dry doesn’t have the natural defenses against wrinkles and age spots. However, there are simple and natural ways to retain and add moisture to your skin.
For example, slices of raw potato placed on the eyelids are said to reduce wrinkles around the eyes and decrease inflammation. You can also use boiled mashed potatoes all over the skin to add moisture and reduce fine lines—just make sure the mashed potatoes are cooled first.
You can also use mashed potatoes to soften and whiten the skin on your hands and feet. Another fridge staple that can improve your skin is buttermilk. Not only can it make any pancake batter better, but the tangy milk can also add healthy moisture to your skin. Just dab a washcloth in a warm bowl of buttermilk and apply wherever you need to soften your skin. Buttermilk is also filled with tryptophan, which helps relax your cells. Not only does this help you fall asleep, but it can also help relax the muscles under your skin that causes fine lines and wrinkles.
Expert Remedies
Even if whipping up your own skin remedy from stuff in your kitchen doesn’t quite seem your style, there are still simple ways of adding youth to your look. Some wrinkle creams provide extravagant ingredients like crushed pearls or caviar and force you to pay hundreds of dollars a bottle.
However, all the research proves that the simplest wrinkle creams are the most effective ones. Look for one that has fewer, more effective ingredients in it. For example, one with a healthy amount of peptides has been shown to produce more collagen and make your skin look younger.
